Swiss Post to Create 200 IT Jobs in Lisbon, Restructures Domestic Operations

Swiss Post has unveiled ambitious plans to create 200 new IT positions in Lisbon by 2030, marking a significant expansion of its international technology operations. This strategic move aims to tap into a broader talent pool while adapting to evolving technological demands. The expansion decision is driven by Swiss Post's need for a highly qualified and diverse IT organization to meet future challenges. The Lisbon location offers access to an international talent pool, addressing the persistent challenge of IT specialist recruitment in Switzerland. Currently operating with 60 full-time positions in Lisbon, the expansion will significantly boost the company's international IT capabilities while maintaining its Swiss operational core.

While expanding internationally, Swiss Post maintains a substantial IT presence in Switzerland with approximately 1,500 employees. The company anticipates around 500 positions becoming vacant over the next five years through natural turnover and retirements. This transition will be managed without forced redundancies, demonstrating Swiss Post's commitment to responsible workforce management and its Swiss heritage.

The expansion plan, first initiated with the announcement of the Lisbon IT site in September 2022, will see gradual implementation through 2030. The workforce in Lisbon is projected to grow from the current 60 positions to approximately 260 employees by 2030. This measured approach allows for systematic growth while ensuring seamless integration with existing operations and maintaining service quality.
