Great St Bernard Tunnel to add solar panels covering half its energy needs

The Swiss section of the Great St Bernard Tunnel is to receive 1,000 solar panels, with the installation expected to generate about 450 megawatt-hours of electricity a year. The project is intended to cover roughly half of the tunnel’s energy needs.
