Drought and hail inflict nearly CHF60 million in damage on Swiss crops

Summer drought and hail caused an estimated CHF59.2 million in Swiss agricultural losses, nearly three times last year’s total. Potato, maize, sugar beet and sunflower crops were among those hit hardest during the country’s hottest and driest spring-to-summer period on record.
