National fundraising campaign achieves significant milestone for child protection initiatives in Switzerland and abroad

"Child abuse is an alarming reality in Switzerland. Every year, thousands of children are subjected to violence and abuse."
Swiss Solidarity, the humanitarian arm of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), has achieved a remarkable milestone by raising CHF4.027 million ($4.3 million) in its latest campaign against child abuse. The five-day fundraising drive, which ran from December 16-20, 2024, saw unprecedented support from the Swiss public and featured 190 prominent personalities participating in more than 70 hours of live coverage across SBC media channels and platforms.
The ninth edition of this crucial campaign focused on raising awareness about all forms of child abuse, including physical, sexual, and psychological violence. Swiss Solidarity emphasized the alarming reality of child abuse in Switzerland, where thousands of children face violence and abuse annually. The campaign particularly highlighted the vulnerability of young children who often lack adequate protection facilities and support systems.
The collected funds will be strategically allocated both within Switzerland and internationally. Domestically, the focus will be on establishing emergency shelters and support systems for abuse victims, while also implementing preventive measures to support vulnerable families. Internationally, the initiative extends to the Sahel region and South Asia, where funds will combat early marriage, child labor, and educational deprivation. This dual approach ensures comprehensive child protection both at home and abroad.
While the intensive campaign period has concluded, Swiss Solidarity continues to accept donations until the end of the year. This ongoing support is crucial, especially considering last year's successful campaign which raised CHF5.4 million for educational access. The organization's commitment to child protection remains steadfast, with plans to expand support services and strengthen preventive measures against child abuse both in Switzerland and target regions abroad.
