Swiss Post Pioneers Robot Parcel Delivery

In a groundbreaking move that positions Switzerland at the forefront of postal innovation, Swiss Post has launched a pioneering pilot program featuring four-legged delivery robots. The program, developed in collaboration with retail giant Migros Online and Zurich-based startup RIVR, introduces sophisticated robotic assistants designed to support postal workers in handling heavy parcels, addressing one of the most challenging aspects of postal delivery services.

The robotic assistant, developed by ETH Zurich spin-off RIVR, represents cutting-edge Swiss engineering excellence. The four-legged robot features innovative design elements including specialized castors on its legs, enabling smooth navigation across various terrain types from roads to pavements.

Equipped with advanced mobility capabilities, the robot can tackle challenging tasks such as climbing stairs and entering/exiting delivery vehicles while ensuring the safety of transported goods. The pilot program, launched in August 2025, is being conducted in Regensdorf, Zurich, serving as a real-world testing ground for this innovative delivery solution.
