Swiss dental care reveals growing social divide

A new study by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) has revealed a concerning trend in Swiss dental healthcare: despite overall improvements in oral hygiene over the past two decades, a significant social divide persists in dental health outcomes. The comprehensive survey conducted in 2022 shows that while the general population's dental health has improved, access to and quality of dental care varies dramatically based on educational background.

The FSO study reveals a striking correlation between education levels and dental health outcomes. Those with tertiary education report significantly better oral health, with 75% describing their dental condition as good to very good. This percentage drops to 68% for those with secondary level 2 qualifications and plummets to 55% for individuals without post-compulsory education.
