Geneva Airport Launches Direct Shanghai Flights

In a significant development for Swiss-Chinese aviation connectivity, Geneva Airport has announced the launch of direct flights to Shanghai, scheduled to commence from June 16. China Eastern Airlines will operate this new intercontinental route, pending final regulatory approvals. This expansion marks a crucial step in strengthening Switzerland's air links with China's financial hub.

The new service will operate four times weekly, with flights departing Geneva on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 12:00 PM local time. The journey time is scheduled for 11 hours and 30 minutes. Return flights from Shanghai will depart at 1:30 AM local time, arriving in Geneva at 7:50 AM. China Eastern Airlines will utilize modern aircraft for this route, ensuring comfortable long-haul travel for passengers.

The establishment of this direct route is expected to significantly boost economic and tourism ties between Switzerland and China. Airport officials have noted strong growth in Chinese visitors to Switzerland and neighboring France, a trend projected to continue.
