In a significant expansion of its Swiss operations, EasyJet has announced the addition of five new destinations from Basel's EuroAirport for the Summer 2025 season. The new routes will connect Basel to destinations across Europe and North Africa, strengthening the airport's position as a key regional transport hub. The expansion demonstrates EasyJet's continued commitment to the Swiss market and comes shortly after the announcement of new routes from Zurich Airport.
Starting April 1st, 2025, Basel travelers will enjoy direct connections to Iceland's capital Reykjavik and the Tunisian island of Djerba, with both routes operating twice weekly. The Reykjavik service, scheduled for Tuesdays and Saturdays, opens up new opportunities for exploring Iceland's dramatic landscapes and cultural attractions. Similarly, the Djerba route will provide convenient access to Tunisia's popular Mediterranean resort destination. From April 4th, flights to Bilbao will commence, operating on Mondays and Fridays, connecting Basel to the cultural heart of Spain's Basque Country.
For the peak summer season, EasyJet is introducing services to two Greek destinations. Flights to the picturesque island of Skiathos will operate from June 24th to August 29th, 2025, with departures on Tuesdays and Fridays. Additionally, the historic city of Chania on Crete will be served from June 25th to August 31st, with flights scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays. These seasonal routes cater to the strong demand for Mediterranean summer destinations among Swiss travelers.
The expansion of routes from Basel EuroAirport represents a significant boost for regional tourism and connectivity. The mix of year-round and seasonal destinations caters to both business and leisure travelers, while strengthening Basel's position as a key transport hub in the tri-national region of Switzerland, France, and Germany. The new routes also complement EasyJet's recent expansion at Zurich Airport, where five additional destinations including Edinburgh and popular Mediterranean destinations have been announced, further enhancing Switzerland's international air connectivity.
