Sika expands its British construction-materials business with acquisition
Zug-based Sika has acquired British landscaping-materials maker Azpects in an effort to expand its product range and UK distribution network.

Sika is using a British acquisition to widen its reach in one of construction’s most visible niches: the spaces people walk and drive across every day. The Zug-based construction chemicals group has bought Azpects Group, a manufacturer of polymer-modified sands and jointing mortars for landscaping projects in the United Kingdom.
The deal gives Sika access to a specialist business serving patios, paths and driveways. Azpects manufactures and markets polymer-based jointing mortars used in the construction and maintenance of those surfaces. The company was founded in 2009 in Ipswich, giving Sika a UK platform with an established product range and local market presence.
Sika announced the transaction on October 9, 2026, without disclosing the purchase price. The absence of a value leaves investors without a direct measure of the deal’s scale, although the company set out a clear operational rationale. It expects the acquisition to strengthen its British product portfolio and distribution network, while creating opportunities to lower costs across production and logistics.
For Sika, the purchase extends its construction business into a focused landscaping category. It also places a locally established British brand inside a global Swiss industrial group.
Distribution and cross-selling drive the deal
The acquisition targets distribution as much as products. Sika said Azpects will help expand its reach in the United Kingdom, where specialist landscaping materials move through trade, contractor and retail channels tied to construction and property maintenance.
That network matters because jointing products are used across a broad stream of projects, from new patios and garden paths to the upkeep of existing driveways. A specialist supplier can give a larger construction-materials group a route into customers that may not buy directly from its traditional product categories.
Sika’s announcement points to a two-way commercial opportunity. Azpects can gain access to Sika’s broader distribution capabilities, while Sika can add Azpects products to relationships already established in the UK. The company specifically cited cross-selling and new distribution channels as potential benefits.
The transaction also gives Sika a British operating base in a category with distinct technical and practical requirements. Polymer-modified sands and jointing mortars must perform in outdoor settings exposed to weather, foot traffic and vehicle use. Azpects’ specialist position offers Sika a way to build on existing expertise rather than develop an entirely new landscaping line internally.
Sika did not provide revenue, employee or market-share figures for Azpects, so the size of its current UK footprint remains undisclosed.
