Prix de Lausanne showcases global ballet talent

The prestigious Prix de Lausanne, now in its 53rd year, has once again transformed the Swiss city into a global hub for young ballet talent. The 2025 edition brings together 85 exceptional dancers from 23 countries, showcasing the competition's enduring international appeal and Switzerland's commitment to nurturing emerging artists. From February 2-9, these young performers, representing the future of classical ballet, will demonstrate their skills and artistic expression on one of the world's most respected dance stages.

The rigorous selection process began with 445 hopefuls submitting video applications, from which 85 talented dancers were chosen to participate in the live competition. The selected group comprises 43 girls and 41 boys, all between 15 and 18 years old, representing the cream of young ballet talent. The week-long event will culminate in a prestigious final on Saturday, where twenty carefully chosen finalists will compete for coveted scholarships to renowned dance companies, potentially launching their professional careers.

Among the promising young dancers is 15-year-old Yve-Noelle Bollinger, whose story embodies the international spirit of the competition. As a Swiss-New Zealand dual national based in Australia, she represents the global nature of contemporary ballet. 'It was my dream to take part in this competition, I've been watching the Prix for so many years,' she shared with enthusiasm. For Bollinger, whose parents are a Zurich photographer and a New Zealand ballet dancer, the competition offers not just artistic opportunity but a chance to reconnect with her Swiss heritage.
